HiTEC^® 11184

HiTEC® 11184 is a new Afton DI platform designed to meet the combined performance demands of both ILSAC GF-6 and API SP, together with the qualification and approval requirements of the new GM dexos™1 Gen 3 specification. HiTEC® 11184 has been designed as a first intent platform for the new performance demands of the Gen 3 specification with specific emphasis on robust vehicle fuel economy performance, optimum pre-ignition control and outstanding wear durability. The new GM dexos™1 specification includes new engine tests for both vehicle fuel economy, GMOEE, and pre-ignition control under transient operation conditions, GM SPI3. HiTEC® 11184 has been formulated following an extensive evaluation of the specific performance demands of these two new tests.

In addition to these new dexos™1 performance test demands, GM has increased the performance demands of other tests within the specification and tightened the development and testing requirements for all qualification programs. All programs are reviewed and audited by GM and approved fluids are defined as an exact match of the individual test oils. They are verified by independent laboratory testing to obtain the GM approval license. All approved oils are also subject to after-market audit for continued compliance.

HiTEC® 11184 has been qualified and approved according to these GM rules and offers approved formulations in key SAE 0W-20 and 5W-30 grades in selected industry base oils.
