One of the fundamental disadvantages of diesel fuel is the precipitation of wax at low temperatures. Untreated, these wax crystals can precipitate out of the fuel and plug fuel filters, leading to engine failure.
This can also lead to solidification of the fuel in the transport infrastructure resulting in the blocking of pipes.
Afton’s cold flow improvers are designed to modify the size and shape of the wax crystals in order to allow the treated diesel to operate at lower temperatures without problems. Lower temperature operability is now an established parameter in specifications around the world.
Afton recognizes that all fuels are different and temperature targets vary, as such we have developed a range of products and services to provide refiners and blenders with an economic solution they can rely on.
