Price Effective Date
Prices become effective with shipments on or after the effective date of a price change.
Standard Packaging
Afton Chemical only uses new drums, not reconditioned or used drums.
1/1/1mm steel, min. UN 1A1/Y1.5/100, 2” & 3⁄4” tri-sure style bung, with a nominal 37 lb. tare weight.
Drums are filled on a net weight basis only, thus eliminating concerns related to tare weight variation.
We encourage our customers to combine orders to take advantage of lower drum differentials for products shipped from the same location.

Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs)
Customer supplied Stainless Steel IBC (approximately 350 gallons) |
$0.06/lb USD |
Afton Chemical does not maintain or manage a fleet of IBCs but can service our customer’s requirement on most bulk MTS (made-to-stock) materials. Please consult your Afton Chemical Sales Representative to establish lead times and minimum order quantities (MOQs).
IBC fleet management will be the customer’s responsibility (e.g. number of IBCs needed, return of empty IBCs).
A supplemental agreement to Afton Chemical’s standard terms and conditions addressing IBC packaged materials will be required when IBCs are utilized.
Export Containerization
Afton Chemical’s standard full 20 ft. container load shipment is 78 drums, except where prohibited due to weight restrictions.
Shipments of less than 78 drums are subject to a supplemental dunnage charge of $400 USD/container ($635 CAD/container) to cover additional blocking materials and labor. This $400 USD per container fee ($635 CAD) will appear as a separate line item on the invoice for the container order.
Drum differentials remain the same (see above)
Afton Chemical offers competitive lead times for its MTS (made-to-stock), and MTO (made-to-order) items. These lead times are generally applicable and reflect the time necessary to process and prepare a customer order in a safe and cost-effective manner.
The lead-times below are expressed in calendar days normally considered the minimum time from order receipt to order shipment.

Your Afton Chemical Sales Representative/CSR (Customer Service Representative) will be glad to provide you with specific lead times for the products you purchase.
Product Loading & Unloading
Afton Chemical uses a set of basic criteria to ensure smooth and effective loading operations.
Each bulk order is allocated a specific loading date and time slot. Customers may arrange for their own bulk carrier where their own trucks or a common carrier are used for a collect shipment. In these cases, Afton Chemical requires the name of the carrier, carrier contact person and phone number at the time the order is placed. This information is used to schedule a pick up time with the carrier and contact the carrier in the event of unusual weather or other abnormal
conditions at the loading facility.
The customer must provide a DOT specification trailer or equivalent that is in test and suitable for loading. Non specification equipment may be loaded subject to plant management inspections and acceptance.
Written authorization is required before Afton Chemical will load over a heel present in a customer carrier trailer. In which case, a line sample will be used for Certificate of Analysis generation.
Package orders are given a pick up date and use standard loading hours.
Because of a number of variables (e.g. - carrier, weather, in-transit delays, distance), Afton Chemical is not able to guarantee a delivered product temperature.
Afton Chemical understands that each customer may have unique pumping, handling, and storage requirements. We will recommend our preferred carriers that are best equipped to address your needs and provide solutions to meet your requirements.
Please contact your Afton Chemical Sales Representative/CSR if you have additional requirements or questions.
Any fees and charges associated with required unloading temperatures will be the customers responsibility.
Tanker Cleanliness
Afton Chemical requires haulers to present a clean, dry, Department of Transportation (DOT) specification road cargo tank trailer at the shipping location with a cleaning certificate regardless of the nature of the cargo. Exceptions can be approved with prior written agreement.

Bulk Shipment Variance
For variance up to +/- 0.5%, customers agree to pay Afton Chemical the invoiced amount.
For variances greater than +/-0.5%:
Customer agrees to advise the Afton Chemical Customer Service Representative (CSR) of the discrepancy prior to unloading.
If the product is unloaded prior to contacting Afton Chemical, the customer agrees to pay Afton Chemical the invoiced amount.
Once contacted, the Afton Chemical CSR will coordinate with the appropriate shipping plant to verify the quantity on the Bill of Lading (BOL).
If no error is found then:
- Afton Chemical will arrange for either an Afton Chemical Representative, if in close proximity, to go to the customer’s site to oversee gauging and to collectively agree upon the quantity.
- Or, if no Afton Chemical Representative is available, the customer will arrange for a third party to gauge the bulk container. The resulting gauged amount will be deemed as the correct amount by both Afton Chemical and the customer.
- If the quantity gauged is within +/- 0.5% of the quantity on the BOL, then the customer is responsible for the third party’s fee.
- If the quantity variance gauged by the third party is greater than +/- 0.5% then Afton is responsible for the third party fee.
Off-Loading Hours
Afton Chemical’s carrier allows two hours for off-loading. After two hours, a fee of $75 USD/hour ($119 CAD/hour) is assessed and will be billed on a separate invoice by the carrier.
Afton Chemical has selected a limited number of reliable and quality driven partners to ensure your product is delivered under the right conditions, at the right time and to the right place. The area of expertise of these logistics partners spans a whole range of delivery modes, from bulk trucks to ISO containers. These logistic partners are regularly audited by Afton Chemical.

All fees related to detention or demurrage will be validated with carrier invoice and/or transport documentation upon request.
