Afton Chemical is expanding its industrial lubricant additive line, bringing technology specifically designed for the metalworking industry to market. This new product line, under the new brand name TecGARD™, will help metalworking fluid blenders and marketers improve performance and productivity in the manufacturing industry. The TecGARD Metalworking Additives line—which will continue to expand—already includes the following products:
Emulsifiers
Afton Chemical has created a range of products to maximize the stability of oil in water emulsions and reduce the tendency for microbiological activity in varying base-oil types and different degrees of water hardness. These emulsifiers enable the formulation of reliable work-horse products for use in high-productivity environments where reliability and minimal tank side adjustment is a key part of operational efficiency.
Extreme Pressure/Antiwear Agents
Afton offers a diverse portfolio of metal-containing and metal-free technologies aimed at reducing the tendency for undesirable steel on steel welding or scoring. Our low- or zero-chlorine chemistry is oil soluble and suitable for rolling oils, cutting oils and other applications.
Demist Additives
As the industry continues to search for a chemical means to reduce stray mist in the workplace, Afton research is underway to increase our understanding of the mechanisms involved and to grow our product offerings.
Quench Additives
Afton Chemical's quench additive technology focuses on keeping the work piece clean and cool with dispersant-containing products that pass certain cooling tests.
Corrosion Inhibitors
Rust inhibition may be achieved with appropriate emulsifiers or supplemented with additional potent chemicals that coat the metal surface and prevent the corrosive action of water. TecGARD products are available for a variety of applications, from preservative to penetration to inhibition.
Industrial Additives
A series of more traditional industrial lubricant additives is available for slideway, hydraulic, circulating, and gear applications. These products meet the latest industry and OEM specifications and are approved in many North American base oils.
