Cetane Improver (DII-3a)
Afton Chemical’s DII-3a cetane improver is used throughout the world to increase the ignition performance of low-cetane diesel fuels that would otherwise cause hard starting, rough operation, noise, and exhaust smoke.
The Engine Manufacturer's Association has suggested that diesel engines designed to meet current exhaust emissions standards will operate better on fuels with cetane numbers above 50, compared to fuels with cetane numbers below 45. Added at the refinery or terminal, DII-3a reduces exhaust emissions and white smoke, provides quicker cold startups, reduces exhaust odor, and reduces maintenance. The use of cetane improver also helps to maintain acceptable fuel mileage.
