Packaging

Afton Chemical only uses new high quality packaging and refrain from using reconditioned or used packaging materials.

Min. 10/8/10 Steel Drums, 216 L € 230/MT

ST1203 steel, Min. UN 1A1/Y1.5/100, typical tare 16kg

Standard IBCs, 1000L € 235/MT

HDPE, unlined and supplied on wooden pallets. Not all products are suitable for supply in IBCs. Contact your Afton Chemical sales representative for further information.

Lead-times

Afton Chemical offers competitive lead-times for its stock items and make-to-order/assemble-to-order items. These lead-times reflect the time necessary to process and prepare a customer order in a safe and cost-effective manner. The lead-times are expressed in working days from order receipt to order shipment.

Bulk and Drum Stock Items 5 working days

Available from inventory for routine quantities.

Bulk make-to-order items (Crankcase, Tractor & VII*) 5 working days
Bulk make-to-order items (All other products) 10 working days
Drummed make-to-order items 10 working days
IBC packaged items (All make-to order.) 15 working days

Lead times for make-to-order products are based upon standard truck, ISO or container loads. For exceptional order quantities please contact your Afton Chemical Customer Relationship Co-ordinator.

*excluding PMA VIIs and some specific special application grades.

Product Loading

Afton Chemical use a set of basic criteria that ensure both smooth and effective loading operations and first-time-right manufacturing. Afton Chemical allocates specific loading days and time slots to each order. Customers collecting at our facilities will be advised of these timeslots by our Customer Service Representatives for each order.

Standard Maximum Hours for Loading within Afton Chemical Installations 3 hours

Prolonged truck detention demurrage beyond 3 hours will be reimbursed if caused by Afton Chemical.

Tanker Cleanliness

To ensure tanker cleanliness, Afton Chemical requires hauliers to present a clean, dry, road cargo to the filling stations, with a cleaning certificate. Previous cargo releases will be given only by written agreement of the customer.

Non-Collection of Bulk Orders from Manufacturing Site on the Agreed Date 

Where it is operationally necessary to unload a product from the blending tank and subsequently transport and store it. €1500 Product
Where non-collection results in the re-scheduling of blend operations and reallocation of blend tanks. €250 Product

Transportation & Delivery

Afton Chemical have selected a limited number of reliable and quality-driven logistics partners to ensure that product is delivered under the right conditions, at the right time to the right place. The area of expertise of these logistics partners spans the whole range of delivery modes, from road trucks to isocontainers to railcars. They are regularly audited by Afton Chemical and are all ISO certified.

Free Hours for Discharge at the Customer Installations 3 hours

Industry standard for unloading material. Discharge arrangements for overseas bulk shipments will vary from this standard. 

Truck Detention or Demurrage Time Incurred at Unloading See below

Typical fees are in the region €36 / hour for truck demurrage. However haulier fees, product heating requirements and other costs are variable. As such, all fees related to detention or demurrage will be validated with haulier invoice and/or transport documentation. 

Order Handling

Primary Contacts

Afton Chemical has a central, multi-lingual Customer Service department in its Brussels office with dedicated Co-ordinators for geographic areas. For a detailed list of your primary contact persons and addresses, please contact your Salesperson.

Order Entry

Afton Chemical commits to enter any order within a day of receipt in so far as orders are received within normal office hours. Customer orders are entered into Afton Chemical’s SAP system with direct link to the shipping or manufacturing locations.

Order Acknowledgement max. 48 hours

An acknowledgement of your order will follow within 24-48 hours of receipt via fax or e-mail depending on your preference.

No Waiver Policy

Afton Chemical operates a no waiver policy on supply of all products.

Non-Conformance and Concerns/Complaints Procedure

Concerns and non-conformances raised by our customers should be notified immediately to your Sales or Customer Service contact person. The concerns are managed electronically within Afton Chemical under the Customer Care System to allow rapid communications between sites and offices. Afton Chemical endeavours to acknowledge a customer concern within 24 hours, and resolve the issue within 30 days.

Return Products Procedure

Afton Chemical operates a formal procedure for returning, where appropriate, delivered goods. Requests for return should be notified to your Sales or Customer Service contact person. The requests are managed centrally within Afton Chemical and in the event of a return a Return Order Number and place of return will be notified.
