Why mmt® is the Best Fuel Additive

Saves money
By allowing optimum refinery flexibility in gasoline blending and production:

  • mmt® increases gasoline Research Octane Number (RON) without affecting other fuel properties such as Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP).
  • mmt® allows easy adjustment of octane as a fuel blending additive or trimming agent. Just one drop, 0.018 gram Mn per liter of gasoline, raises the RON 2 to 3 numbers.
  • mmt®‘s low treat rates allow for the reduction or elimination of other costly gasoline components.

Lowers mobile source air toxic (MSAT) emissions 
By helping refiners formulate cleaner burning gasoline:

  • mmt® can lower the aromatic and benzene content of gasoline by replacing the octane lost when these aromatics are removed from gasoline.
  • mmt® can lower the olefin content of gasoline thereby reducing ozone precursor components.
  • mmt® increases octane without affecting the RVP allowing the refiner to remove volatility components from the gasoline pool, therefore lowering evaporative emissions and reducing ozone precursors.

Provides valve seat recession (VSR) protection for older vehicles
mmt®
reduces gasoline engine valve seat wear in older vehicles. In gasoline markets that offer an alternative to leaded gasoline, MMT® prevents valve wear, improves combustion and reduces emissions.


Protects vehicle emission systems from oil and lubricant-borne contaminants.

  • Manganese from mmt® combustion preferentially binds with phosphorus and sulphur in vehicle exhaust gases.
  • When bound to manganese in the exhaust gas, phosphorus and sulphur cannot act to poison the operation of catalytic converters and oxygen sensors thereby extending optimal performance of the vehicle’s emission control system.
