Refineries:
mmt® assists refiners in achieving significant savings in unit operation, compared to other commonly used octane solutions, while meeting stringent unleaded fuel specifications. With mmt® ,Octane Improvement Costs (OIC) associated with production are usually two to three times lower than with other fuel additives.
By increasing the octane rating of gasoline, the use of mmt® permits refiners to beneficially alter fuel composition, both reducing emissions and energy consumption at the refinery and producing a cleaner burning gasoline. In addition, mmt® helps to reduce refinery emissions of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas linked to global warming.
Vehicle Emissions:
mmt® has been found to improve the durability and performance of vehicular exhaust catalysts. Throughout the life of a vehicle, mmt® also helps maintain emission performance by protecting catalysts and oxygen sensors from degradation (caused by poisons such as phosphorus from the lubricating oil).
mmt® has also been found to significantly reduce tailpipe emissions of NOx, a key component in the formation of urban smog. The U.S. EPA has acknowledged that a fleet of vehicles operating on unleaded gasoline formulated with mmt® averaged 15-20% lower tailpipe emissions of NOx. Recent studies have also shown that fuels formulated with mmt® can significantly lower levels of unregulated emissions and mobile source air toxics (MSAT).
