Using QSAR Models to Predict Hazard Properties

The use of QSAR (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships) can be an effective means to predict or estimate the hazardous properties of chemicals required for regulatory notification, without conducting expensive and time-consuming testing. However, for QSAR results to be acceptable to regulatory authorities, both the prediction and the models used, have to meet the specific requirements set by the authorities.

This introductory article discusses basic aspects of QSAR use with examples using models commonly used by Afton EHS3.
